Use this form to request an on-site volunteer group

We review each request carefully and do our best to meet community needs; however, submitting a request does not guarantee fulfillment. Project selections are made at the sole discretion of BCCD and depend on alignment, timing, volunteer availability, resources, and logistics.

Hands-On Work Brigades

Farm Force crews provide the practical labor, skills, and coordination needed to move conservation projects from plans on paper to completed work on the ground. This includes strengthening locally rooted food systems by helping farmers implement the practices funded through state and federal conservation contracts.

Planting riparian buffers, hedgerows, orchards, and agroforestry systems
Harvesting and processing locally important foods, including hickory nuts in Vermont and mangoes in the U.S. Virgin Islands
Helping farmers implement practices funded through NRCS conservation contracts
Installing and improving grazing infrastructure, livestock fencing, and farm water systems
Completing soil-health, water-quality, and climate-resilience projects
Establishing pollinator and wildlife habitat
Managing invasive plants using nonchemical and biological approaches
Tackling other labor-intensive projects that help farmers farm

These brigades help move projects from plans on paper to conservation on the ground.

Eligibility & General Guidelines

Your proposed project should meet the following guidelines:

Eligibility:

Nonpartisan / Non-proselytizing: Organizations should not be political or strictly religious. (Faith-based organizations serving the broader community without proselytizing are welcome.)
Meaningful Work for All: Provide enough hands-on, purposeful tasks to keep all volunteers engaged for the full project window. Consider this when estimating volunteer count.
Indoor / Outdoor: Projects may be indoors or outdoors. If outdoors, please identify a backup indoor option when possible.
On-Site Representation: A representative from your organization must be present the entire time to provide instructions, oversee the work, take photos, and, if time allows, share information about your mission or provide a tour.
Educational Materials Encouraged: Brochures or other materials that help volunteers learn more about your organization are welcome.
