BENNINGTON airport
Standing at the bank of Singing Pond, one is able to see a grassy hill in the distance. This hill is where the airport's runway ends, and where Anne's property begins. By observing how close this border between the airport's property and Anne's property actually is to Singing Pond, one can imagine the detrimental effects that would occur if the runway was realigned. Unfortunately, we were unable to speak with any representatives of the airport, and can't know for certain what they plan to do with the runway or Singing Pond. Our goal is to inform everyone that will listen about cases like Anne's, issues where the rights of our area's precious creatures are endangered. Long ago, before Bennington was called Bennington, this area that we live in today belonged to wildlife and residents who coexisted with nature. Despite the industrial ways of the nation, we as Vermonters should care about what happens to the green mountain state and all of its inhabitants. It is selfish to take away the homes of countless animals just to accommodate our current lifestyle. Who will fight to protect places like Singing Pond when people like Anne Allen are gone? Who will aid the future of Bennington wildlife and protect nature from commercialization? The future is in our hands!
