WELCOME

Welcome to our website. In the course of Dan’s and my AP English and History classes, our class has been asked to preserve Vermont history. Our teacher, Mrs. Engle, was approached by the Bennington Historical Society, asking if we, the students, would help the Society record and document the local history of Bennington; specifically, the history of those people who “worked the land.” Working the land was defined as someone who farmed, either with animals or produce; loggers, and the related activities; orchard owners, and any person who had relevant information about their or other’s experiences with working the land. We were required to videotape our interviewees, and to construct this website around each of our people. Dan and I decided to interview Peter Geanellis, owner and operator of the Mt. Anthony tree farm, and who also works at the Mt. Anthony Veterinary Hospital. We also interviewed Charlotte Galusha, a woman whose family once owned 500 acres of sheep and other livestock farming land in Shaftsbury, VT. The following web pages document our interviews and visits to Peter’s and Charlotte’s business and home. Enjoy.
