Shaftsbury Alpacas
|
"I want to make it so that one day everyone will be able to own a little bit of Alpaca," says Sandy Harder. Sandy and her husband Johan fell in love with Alpacas for their looks, their behavior, and their fleece, while living in New York City. Their dislike of the city atmosphere and their mounting desire to raise Alpacas brought them to Vermont in 2001. Their story embodies the direction in which farming is going in Vermont. While the number of large farms and families living off the land is on a decline in our state, it is people like Sandy and Johan that are keeping our history of agriculture alive in small, specialized farms by their love for the animal and for this state. |
