This is Joel Burrington Jr.. He owns and runs Burrington Farms in Pownal, Vermont with his cousin Bruce Burrington Jr. After his Grandfather started his farm, it was passed to his father, and then on to him. He currently works seven days per week, for about 15 hours per day. He farms over four hundred acres of land with his cousin and a hired hand.

These are the buses that Joel and Bruce drive for Pownal Elementary School. They have to drive for the school because they need the extra income to support their farm.

These calves have been weaned off of milk and are now ready to be put out in a small pen to get used to fences. After that, they will be moved to a large pasture and be bred. The Burrington's buy disease free bull semen to breed their cows with to prevent outside disease from infecting the farm. Once they give birth, the cows will be included among the cows to be milked.

This is a picture of the cows that are currently milked. They stay in this pasture all day, and are brought into the barn at night to be milked.

The Burrington farm.
Zach Higgins and Ryan Heisler would like to extend the most gracious thanks to Joel Burrington for taking time out of his day and giving us the information to educate the community about dairy farming.
