Volunteers treating Japanese knotweed.
Japanese knotweed (Fallopia japonica) is a highly invasive plant and is a special problem along streambanks. BCCD distributed Japanese knotweed educational materials to landowners and the general public in the watershed. Then, a volunteer swat team of volunteers from various Trout Unlimited chapters treated some knotweed patches. The project was funded by Vermont's Watershed Grant program, which is supported by proceeds from sales of the Vermont Conservation License plate.
